Independent IT Strategy Review
Executive Summary:
Beyond Technology was engaged by a Queensland based University to undertake a business focused strategic review of the IT function, to prepare for the development of a formal strategic plan for the next 5 years. The scope of the review was strategic in nature and primarily internally focussed on IT Services. Core IT aspects of infrastructure, applications, service delivery and end-user experience were assessed to understand the environment, governance, strategic planning
Findings:
- The deliverable was a report setting out opportunities for improvement and how existing strategic planning activity should be transformed to better meet the universities priorities. Future opportunities to support improved educational outcomes, improve service delivery, and recommendations on any alternate strategies to meet the identified requirements.
Actionable Advice:
- Our advice provided sixteen recommendations for improvement and remediation. These were across five categories - ICT Strategy & Governance, ICT Operations, ICT Project Management, Infrastructure and Systems and Technical - with a focus on planning improvement and organisational strategic alignment.
Client Outcome:
- The client was able to revise its planning framework and operational focus to provide prioritise its activities on the Universities goals. Immediate steps were taken to improve ICT governance and improve its customer service focus. Future strategic planning processes was able to refocused on improvements in digital teaching and learning and reducing technology risk.
