Independent IT Assessment
Executive Summary:
Our client had very rapidly grown their organisation from small a professional services firm to a mid-sized business over just a few years through both acquisition and organic growth. The board and executive management were concerned that their IT provider had not kept up with the changing circumstances and were no longer delivering to their requirements cost effectively.
An independent review of the IT service experience considered if the Information Technology was capable of meeting the growing businesses expectation and the increasingly digital future. IT costs were compared against benchmarks and the organisations IT risk profile was examined and considered against organisations with a similar context.
Findings:
- The organisations had outgrown the existing managed service provider and was no longer receiving good value for money.
- The MSP was providing competent services, however the technology architecture was no longer appropriate and negatively impacted the organisations ability to evolve and compete within an increasingly digital market.
- The IT risk profile had degraded significantly due to its cyber resilience and security posture not being effectively managed or improved in recent years.
Actionable Advice:
- We recommended that the organization revamp its IT operations strategy and modernize its foundational IT infrastructure.
- This entailed considering the insourcing of certain IT support functions and selecting a new managed service provider that better aligned with their size and changing requirements.
Client Outcomes:
- Beyond Technology provided an Interim CIO service for a period of six months, assisting in the development of a new IT Operations strategy that was focused on both the immediate and future business requirements.
- This lead to the recruitment of a few internal IT resources and the migration to a new managed service provider. Beyond Technology assisted with the approach to market and selection of the provider that facilitated the deployment of a scalable and cost-effective network architecture that reduced future costs and supported increased automation across the business.
